About us
Built in a garage. Run on proof.
No showroom origin story — engines on stands, a torque wrench that never got put away, and neighbors who kept telling their friends.
The story
From two bays and a reputation
Lap 18 didn't start with a showroom. It started with engines on stands, a torque wrench that never got put away, and neighbors who kept telling their friends. The kind of shop where the person who quotes your job is the person whose hands are in the engine bay.
The name comes from our own build — the M18 program, a fully rebuilt turbocharged inline-six assembled in-house, on our own time, to our own standard. We built it because we wanted to, and it set the bar for how every customer car gets treated: measured, documented, done properly.
BMW and European cars are home turf — rebuilds, turbo work, the jobs other shops send away — but the discipline carries to every make we touch: photograph what we find, quote before we work, guarantee it in writing.

How we work
Three rules, no exceptions
Evidence before invoices
You see photos of the actual fault and a written quote before we turn a single bolt. If we can't show it, we don't charge for it.
Guaranteed in writing
12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on all work — printed on every invoice. A warranty you have to argue for isn't a warranty.
Specialist depth, everyday range
The crew that rebuilds turbo engines also does brakes and oil changes — with the same discipline, because that's the only way we know how to work.
The crew
The hands behind the work
Photos and introductions coming — the same people you'll see in the work photos across this site. No service writers, no runaround: you talk to the people who fix the car.
